FAQs About Water Features

Q: How does a water feature and pond system work?

The primary mechanical element to a water feature is the pump. The pump re-circulates water from the bottom of the pond back to the top of the water feature. Small amounts of water are introduced automatically as needed due to evaporation. The same holds true for fountains and pond-less water features.

Q: Is water constantly being introduced to a pond system because of water loss into the earth?

No it isn't. Our ponds utilize a membrane liner that controls water loss. Fresh water is only periodically introduced back into the system to replace that lost to evaporation.

Q: Do you design and construct pond-less water features?

Yes we do! Please inquire for details, as there are many options!

Q: I'm concerned about quality... do you use the best materials, the best pond systems, and the healthiest plants for your pond designs and constructs?

Yes, most absolutely! We use professional-grade mechanical pond components, natural Tennessee stone, and a variety of plants.

Q: What kind of biological filters do you use in your ponds and what is their service cycle?

We prefer to use Aquascape skimmers and biofalls. Maintenance is typically about 10-15 minutes per week to clean the pond and the skimmer filter. In addition, we recommend that the pond owner adhere to a yearly clean-out regimen, and we're happy to provide this and other maintenance services if requested.
